GURDASPUR: Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Sunday alleged that Pulwama attack was orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of his election strategy.

Bajwa said it was for the first time that the bodies of the martyrs of a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir or elsewhere were flown to Delhi rather than being sent to their native places. While the next of kin waited in pain, Modi made a show of paying floral tributes in the national capital.

Addressing a series of election rallies in Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency bordering Pakistan, Bajwa launched blistering attack on the Prime Minister as the ‘Divider-in-Chief’ for implementing his ‘nefarious design’ of dividing the diverse social fabric that was reminiscent of partition of the country in 1947, when the worst sufferer was Punjab. He asserted Punjabis can’t afford yet another partition.

He said BJP-SAD candidate Sunny Deol was symbol of that divisive politics and this politics of poison must be defeated.

He said a leader who can’t even say few words could not represent Gurdapur and the people must make the right choice. He said the Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar is known as one of the best speakers who has raised people’s concerns strongly.

Attacking the Akali Dal, he said the 5-time chief minister Parkash Singh Badal must answer as to why his government took no action after the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib was reported missing on June 1 from a gurdwara in Burj Jawaharsinghwala village.

Further, the police remained indifferent after posters challenging the Sikhs to recover the Bir that was claimed to be hidden in the same village appeared in Bargari on September 24.
