Nawanshahar : Senior Congress leader and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi as why was he shying away from talking about his five-year performance and was instead diverting public’s attention and dividing people.
Addressing a public meeting in support of party candidate from Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary constituency, here today, Pilot said Modi was deliberately trying to divert the public attention from the essential needs of the common man.
“Instead of talking about the prices of the essential commodities like food, fertilisers, cooking gas, petroleum and unemployment, Modi was trying to polarise people and divide them,” he said while adding that however, this time people have already understood his designs and they will get him removed.
The Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister said the local Akali Dal candidate must also be questioned and asked as what did the BJP government at the Centre, of which Akali Dal was an alliance partner, did for Punjab or for the Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary constituency.
He said the winds of change have already started blowing across the country and the BJP will be reduced to the minority. He disclosed that he had extensively travelled across the country and noticed a strong anti-incumbency against the BJP and the PM, which made their exit imminent.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress candidate Manish Tewari reminded people about Modi’s promises before 2014. “While Modi has forgotten his old promises, he has now come out with a different set of promise to try to befool people,” he said.
Among others present on the occasion included local MLA Chaudhry Darshan Lal, Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Singh Shergill, Rajasthan MLA Jagdish Sharma and District Congress Committee, Ropar President Birinder Singh Dhillon.
