Ludhiana : Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi while addressing a mammoth rally in favour of party candidate Ravneet Bittu in Mullanpur here today said that the need of the hour was to provide jobs to people but it was not possible without strengthening the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). He said the UPA government will leave no stone unturned to strengthening the MSME and industrial city like Ludhiana will play a big role in it. He said that ‘Made in China’ can be defeated with ‘Made in Ludhiana’. Gandhi further said that demonetisation was a financial madness of PM Modi which ruined the economy of the country.

Accompanied by Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh, party’s Punjab Affairs in-charge Asha Kumari and other party leaders, Gandhi appealed to the people to make Congress candidate Bittu victorious with a big margin and he will be given a suitable responsibility in the next UPA government. Striking a chord with the locals, the Congress president asked them whether the note ban had benefitted them at which the people said “no” in a thunderous chorus. Gandhi said, “God knows what PM had in dinner that night when he suddenly announced note ban”. He said that Modi had weakened the country by attacking its economy. The Congress president promised the people that after coming to power, the UPA government will make separate budget for farmers to improve their financial condition. He further said that the UPA government will immediately fill 22 lakh government vacancies to provide jobs to the youths. Gandhi said that PM Modi was hell-bent on spreading hatred against him and his family but he will keep replying to Modi’s hate with love. Addressing the rally, CM Capt Amarinder Singh exuded confidence that the Congress will win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats of the state. He said that the state government had started the process of waiving off the farmers’ loans and till now loans worth Rs 5000 crore of 6.50 lakh farmers had been waived off and the remaining loans will be waived off shortly. He said that the state government was already on the job to revive the ruined MSMEs and in this regard a cycle valley was being set up in Ludhiana and an international airport was being started soon at Halwara. Capt Singh appealed to the people to vote in favour of Bittu to make him victorious with a big margin. While welcoming Rahul Gandhi, Bittu said that seeing a huge wave in favour of Congress PM Modi had got panicky and had cancelled Ludhiana rally which was scheduled to be held on May 17.
