In multi corner contest, Ravneet Bittu of Congress sweeps Ludhiana

Ludhiana : Sitting Member Parliament (MP) and Congress candidate from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu sweep s Ludhiana seat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Bittu has defeated Simarjit Singh Bains of Lok Insaaf party, Maheshinder Singh Grewal of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Dr Tejpal Singh Gill of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Bittu has secured 383795 votes and emerged as winner. LIP candidate Simarjit Singh Bains remained first runner up by securing 307423 votes and SAD candidate got 299435 votes. Bittu has registered victory with margin of 76372 votes. Ravneet Singh Bittu has secured lead from five constituencies- Ludhiana east, North, Central, West and Jagraon. LIP candidate Simarjit Singh Bains has got victory margin from Atam Nagar, Ludhiana South, Gill and Dakha assembly segments. Interestingly, SAD candidate Maheshinder Grewal failed to secure victory from any single assembly constituency. In Ludhiana, 10538 voters have opted for NOTA option.
Speaking to daily Post after the victory, Ravneet Singh Bittu said that despite the strong Modi wave in entire nation, Congress has registered victory on Ludhiana. He said that in coming five years, he will make efforts to clean Buddha nullah and give it new look. Bittu said that he is thankful to the people of Ludhiana for posing faith in him again and assured that he will not break the faith of people in next five years. Bittu added that he will play strong role of opposition in Center Government.
