JALANDHAR: Known as one of the most vocal critics of Congress’ deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh, former Punjab chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Wednesday showered praise on her bete noire and claimed that their differences had been resolved.

Bhattal was here to take part in a religion procession held to mark the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki. Talking to reporters, she also called the Captain a tall, respected leader and her brother.

“We have ended all our differences in favour of the party (Congress). We have decided to work from one platform,” said Bhattal, denying reports that she had ironed out differences with the Captain as she desired to make her son the next Punjab Youth Congress chief.

“All these reports are baseless as I am not even aware when the Youth Congress elections are going to happen in Punjab. How can I project my son when the entire election process has to be conducted as per the system adopted by Rahul Gandhi,” she said.

Bhattal claimed that Amarinder, the Amritsar MP, had responded favourably to this “new beginning” by greeting her on her birthday on September 30.

“I wish that the relations between the Captain and Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa improve as well,” she said.
