Dharmsot to hold meeting of newly elected MCs on Jan 22

PATIALA: The decks have been cleared for the constitution of new house of Municipal Corporation here as the Forest Minister and Incharge of MC elections here, Sadhu Singh Dharmsot has summoned an open meeting of all the newly elected MC’s of the party here on January 22. According to the sources in the Congress party close to the power centre New Moti Bagh Palace, Dharmsot will meet all elected 59 MC’s in the circuit house on January 22 and get feedback from them and submit his report later to the Chief Minister (CM). Sources further told that if everything went as per scheduled then the royal city is expected to receive its new Mayor on January 23.
These sources added that already a brainstorming session has been organised in the New Delhi to discuss the matter in details and it was attended by the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, his wife Former Union Minister, Parneet Kaur, Health Minister, Brahm Mohindra, Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar (MP). Sources claimed that the names of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor have been finalized in the meeting and will be formally conveyed to the newly elected MC’s on January 22.
On the other hand, it is learnt that the names of the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor have been put and sealed in an envelope and the envelope will be opened in the meeting. The sources further told that with a green signal from the party about it, the preparations are in full swing to organise the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected MC’s in the auditorium of the MC here.
Besides it also learnt that all the newly elected MC’s will administer the oath by the Divisional Commissioner under Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976’s section 38 and under section 4 election of the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and the Deputy Mayor will be conducted if need be otherwise its expected that all the MC’s will go by the decision of the party high command. Even as many names are making rounds for the post of Mayor including Sanjeev Bittu, Yoginder Singh Yogi, Harwinder Singh Nippy and Kamlesh Malhotra.but so far nothing is cleared on it thus it causing anxiety among the people.
