he National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) offers top-notch students from around the country the opportunity to attend special functions in the nation’s capitol, including hearing speakers on the floor of the House of Representatives, a panel discussion with prominent journalists at the National Press Club, to discuss current events and issues with top policy makers in Washington, D.C., analyze concepts and then put them immediately to work. This dynamic program features creative decision-making simulations that challenge young minds to solve problems and lead their peers through role-playing exercises in an energy-charged environment far from the traditional classroom experience.
Each session of the National Young Leaders Conference is designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them the confidence and leadership skills that will take them into a successful future. Nominations are extended to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have demonstrated these abilities. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time their appointment begins, be in their junior year of high school. Harsimranjit was representing Congressman Ken Calvert from District 44 who was elected to his 10th term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The conference was held this year in late March and draw more than 200 students. Harsimranjit is one of the 5 Indian American students who participate in this event
