While Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal has announced to produce 1500 MW power from flow of water in canals by using special turbines, a hydro power generation plant built by an NRI at an investment of around Rs 10 crore at Terkiana at the head of Kali Bein is lying shut down for the last one-a-half-month. The plant was shut down at the whimsical order of a BJP MLA even as Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has recommended its running.
