British Sikh charity trustee in UK barred for visa fraud

London: Britain’s charity watchdog hasdisqualified the trustee of a British Sikh charity and barred him from being involved in any charity in future after he was found guilty of misusing the organisation for visa fraud to bring Indian nationals to the country.

New York : A Sikh-American girl was harassed on a subway train here when a white man, mistaking her to be from the Middle East, allegedly shouted ‘go back to Lebanon’ and ‘you don’t belong in this country,’ the latest in a series of hate crimes against people of South-Asian origin. Rajpreet Heir was taking the subway train to a friend’s birthday party in Manhattan this month when the white man began shouting at her, according to a report in the New York Times.

Indian-origin doc reconstructs jaw using 3D printer

London: An Indian-origin surgeon in the UK ,with the help of a 3D printer, has successfully reconstructed a 53-year-old cancer patient’s jaw using bone from one of his legs. Dr Daya Gahir of Royal Stoke University Hospital in West Midlands region of England specialises in facial, head and neck surgery and conducts as many as 40 reconstructions a year.

UK police officer knifed in ‘terrorist incident’ in Parl

London: A British police officer was on Wednesday stabbed and his attacker shot dead near the British Parliament complex, in what Scotland Yard are describing as a “terrorist incident.” British Prime Minister Theresa May, who had just completed her weekly Prime Minister’s Questions, was seen being ushered into a car as gunfire rang out at Parliament during the incident.
