AMRITSAR: The court of GS Bakshi, additional sessions judge-1, on Saturday held six persons, including five doctors, two from Amritsar and three from Jalandhar, guilty in a kidney transplant case, on charges of intimidating a minor to donate his kidney to a retired inspector of Haryana Police. The sixth accused, who has been held guilty, is the recipient — the retired inspector of Haryana Police.

Amritsar : At least eight persons were killed and 13 injured in a bus-truck collision near a Verka village on the Amritsar-Pathankot highway today.The accident occurred on a narrow stretch on which traffic was diverted because of ongoing repair works.

Patna : Five persons were killed today in seven low-intensity serial blasts in Patna of which six bombs went off in and around the venue of Narendra Modi's mega rally at Gandhi Maidan shortly before his address before a huge gathering. A total of 83 persons were injured in the explosions that occurred between 9.30 am and 11.45 am.
GMADA owes panchayats Rs 65 cr against acquired land

Chandigarh : The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) owes the Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Department Rs 65 crore in lieu of the land acquired in over two dozen villages. Various reminders to the authorities for the payments have proved futile to date.
