LUDHIANA: After making it to British and Canadian parliaments, Punjabis have now made their presence felt in the Australian elections. Jagjit Singh ‘Jag’ Chugha (39), who migrated from Moga in 1976, has become the first Punjabi to contest as well as win the federal elections Down Under.

MOGA: A 26-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman on pretext of marrying her. The accused has been identified as Ravi, a resident of Kotise Khan village of the district, police said.

AMRITSAR: Twenty-one-year old Vicky Kumar, who was arrested Sunday for molesting a 25-year-old Danish student who had arrived in Amritsar late Friday night, has confessed to his crime. He is habitual sex offender and earlier complaints have been registered against him with the police, said the police sources.
